Mizara

You work hard for your money.Know what you get to keep.

Mizara brings your invoices, expenses and bank statements together and works out what to set aside for the Belastingdienst. After every invoice, you see which part is yours.

The demo runs in your browser, no account needed.

One invoice

€2,500 invoiced. How much of it is yours?

Your client pays more than €2,500, because VAT is added. That VAT was never yours. On the rest you'll pay income tax and Zvw later. Mizara splits it out the moment you create the invoice.

Why not a fixed percentage?

What an invoice costs you in tax depends on what you've already earned this year. In this example, €36,000 of revenue was already booked. So Mizara calculates over the whole year, with deductions and tax credits, and shows what this invoice adds.

What you keep

One place

Everything you need. In one place.

Invoices in a folder, receipts in your inbox, statements in your banking app and VAT in a spreadsheet. Mizara puts it side by side, so every booking counts towards your overview straight away.

How it works

From invoice to tax overview.

Four parts, one continuous set of books. What you book in one place shows up in the others.

01 · Invoices

Invoices that add up

Pick your client, describe the work and choose the VAT rate. Mizara numbers the invoice, calculates the VAT and includes the details the Belastingdienst expects on an invoice.

  • Sequential invoice numbers
  • VAT at 21%, 9% or 0% per line
  • Quotes with digital signature and recurring invoices
More about invoices

02 · Expenses

Expenses without the shoebox

Take a photo of a receipt or upload the PDF. Mizara reads the amount, date and VAT and makes a suggestion. You check and confirm, because reading receipts isn't always perfect.

  • Suggested category and VAT rate
  • Every value it reads can be corrected
  • The receipt stays attached to the booking

03 · Bank

Your bank statement, added

Download a CAMT.053 or MT940 file from your bank and import it into Mizara. Payments are matched to your invoices and expenses. There is no direct bank connection: you decide what comes in.

  • CAMT.053 (.xml) and MT940 (.mt940, .sta, .txt)
  • For euro accounts
  • Suggestions to match payments to invoices

04 · Tax

Tax as a number, not a feeling

Your bookings show what to set aside: VAT for the current quarter, plus income tax and Zvw for this year. It's an estimate, and it says so.

  • VAT for the current quarter
  • Income tax and Zvw with a 2% margin
  • Figures prepared for your VAT return

Your set-aside

Know more. Guess less.

After one invoice and one receipt, it's there: what you keep aside for the Belastingdienst, and where that amount comes from.

How this amount is built

  1. 1

VAT: the VAT on this quarter's invoices, minus the VAT on your expenses. In this example, earlier quarters have already been filed and paid.

  2. 2

Income tax and Zvw: calculated on this year's profit so far, after the self-employed deduction, the SME profit exemption and tax credits.

  3. 3

Margin: 2% on top of income tax and Zvw, so a small difference doesn't catch you out.

Frequently asked questions

How does Mizara work out what to set aside?

It adds the VAT for the current quarter to the income tax and Zvw on this year's profit so far, plus a 2% margin, and rounds up. See the tax overview.

Does Mizara file my tax return?

Mizara prepares the figures for your VAT return, EC sales list (ICP) and income tax. You file them yourself with the Belastingdienst.

Is there a connection with my bank?

No, there's no direct bank connection. You import your statement as a CAMT.053 or MT940 file. See bank imports.

Does Mizara read my receipts perfectly?

No, and we don't promise that. Values read from a receipt are a suggestion. You check and confirm them yourself before anything is booked.

Can I switch from another package?

Yes. You can import from Moneybird, e-Boekhouden and Exact, or use a CSV or XAF file.
